Fortuna
Fortuna Spa Baths is a delightful place and approx 30 minutes drive from Manor House resort; you can enjoy a day pampering yourself in the natural hot water springs. It is nestled around hot springs, some 30km north of Murcia’s historic capital and about 60km from the Mediterranean.
Fortuna offers a slice of heaven with a serious slice of history and outdoor enjoyment. It’s a traditional town in the mountains of northwest Murcia, well away from the tourist hustle and bustle of the coast.
It’s streets and squares are atmospheric places to pass away the day with a coffee and book, its heralded spa is a glorious time machine – you’ll wonder where the time disappeared and you will also feel a whole lot younger when you leave!
On the fringes of the town are a group of important and intriguing archaeological sites, some that date back to the Bronze Age. You will be able to delve into the diggings, explore sacred caves and observe the ancient Roman inscriptions -an open-air museum!
For those who really want to stretch their legs, two large nearby parks offer wildlife, walking and hiking in scenic surroundings. The Sierra de la Pila Regional Park has 50km of hiking trails alone.
Winter Sun at a bargain price in Fortuna, a historic Spa town, step back from the coast, let Fortuna’s hot springs soothe your soul, and sink into a traditional Spanish life in the mountains of Murcia.
Open all year, where even in January you can spend many hours outdoors soaking in a thermal pool. The sun really does shine nearly every day, and you can lounge by the pool even in December.
While the temperature in the private pool does drop in the Winter-within 4 mins drive you have a choice of 2 outdoor heated pools (37 Celsius)-La Fuente and the Thermal Natural Mineral waters at Leana, Spa Hotel.
In between your dips in the pool there are loungers and sun beds to soak up the Winter sun,. Prices are very reasonable for full day lounging. Great value entertainment for any youngsters while you read your book. There are also pool bars and cafes-again great value compared to Coastal prices.
Fortuna gives you a true slice of rural Spanish life and yet, you are still only an hour or so drive from the coast. Though, we have a feeling if you are the Fortuna type, you would sooner point your compass west and spend your time wine tasting in Jumilla and Yecla.
I’ve got to say this is a fabulous looking place
